The key component of BEC’s “renovation plan” for 2021 is now in place. Make that components, with an S. As Bowling Center Management evolves and improves its coverage of the amusement and entertainment industries, the magazine has secured the services of George McAuliffe and Howard McAuliffe to quarterback the effort.
The father-and-son team that comprises Pinnacle Entertainment Group brings more than 60 years of combined experience to the table. The company was founded in 1996 and provides an array of services to clients, including an FEC launch package, operations optimization, feasibility studies, game-based digital training, acquisition and divestiture, and more.
George McAuliffe began his career in location-based entertainment in 1979 with Time-Out Family Amusement Centers, based in Fairfax, Va. In 1989, he led the team that opened the first family entertainment center in a U.S. shopping mall, a 70,000-sq.-ft., diverse entertainment attraction.
In 1990, Edison Brothers Stores acquired Time-Out, and McAuliffe joined Edison as Director of Family Entertainment Centers. With the acquisition of other arcade chains and the Dave and Busters restaurant/entertainment concept, Edison Entertainment grew to become the third-largest U.S. family entertainment chain with 130 stores.
Howard McAuliffe now has more than two decades of experience in operations and consulting in the world of family entertainment as an owner-operator, vendor and consultant. He also works with various industry associations, including serving on the board of directors and various committees for the American Amusement Machine Association.
“I am beyond thrilled to welcome George McAuliffe and Howard McAuliffe to the BCM team,” said BCM Editor Bob Johnson. “We have some ideas for leveraging their expertise that will bring true value to both bowling center proprietors and bowling- based entertainment center operators as we emerge from the pandemic and look toward a more profitable future.
“I’ve seen these gentlemen speak at numerous industry events through the years and have admired their obvious high level of knowledge,” Johnson added. “I’m looking forward to showcasing and sharing their knowledge in BCM throughout the year.”
